HAMAM: On the right track to advanced detection and diagnosis of breast cancer

VIENNA, AUSTRIA – (HealthTech Wire / News) - The EU funded eHealth project Highly Accurate Breast Cancer Diagnosis (HAMAM) has successfully completed the first project year that already brought the first major achievements. These include a first functioning online database prototype developed and made accessible for storing multi-disciplinary data from all partners and the implementation of the first workstation prototype.

Furthermore, the clinical goals of the project were discussed and defined in detail, modality specific tasks were described, the scope of tumour modelling and risk analysis integration was refined and delineated, the clinical workflows and indications were clarified and a first complete description of all relevant use cases was delivered.

The project partners presented their work at several scientific conferences and congresses, including such prestigious events as the European Congress of Radiology 2009, Informatik 2009, the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Breast Cancer Symposium and the World Congress 2009 on Medical Physics and Biomedical Engineering.
