Dictation made easy with the Digta 420 “Easy Mode”
Innovative changes on Grundig Business Systems dictation device make work easier
Published: 08/13/2009
NAPERVILLE, IL and NEW YORK, NY, USA - (HealthTech Wire / News) - Effective immediately, the new re-engineered Digta 420 hand-held digital dictation device by Grundig Business Systems (GBS) is on the market. For everybody who simply wants to make dictations, it has an “Easy Mode” setting. The display is then limited to the absolute essentials, and the buttons are set for performing only the most important dictation functions. “‘Easy Mode’ makes the transition especially easy for digital dictation newcomers,” says GBS Managing Director Roland Hollstein. “They can simply concentrate on their dictation, while enjoying the full benefits of digital dictation, such as tremendous storage capacity and superior audio quality,” he adds.
One special “Easy Mode” feature: settings made in the usual full operation mode are still retained after switching over to “Easy Mode”. This includes settings such as microphone sensitivity: workflow functions according to types of dictations, groups, and secretarial offices; or, for example, energy-saving functions. “Easy Mode” is activated by switching on the Digta 420 in the usual way, while simultaneously pressing the “new” button until the GBS logo appears on the display. By the same procedure, the user can switch back to full operating mode at any time. “The place for complexity should be inside the device – operating it, on the other hand, must be simple. That was the idea that prompted us to work together with our customers to develop ‘Easy Mode’,” explains Hollstein.
In addition to the “Easy Mode” setting, the Digta 420 sports further modifications as well: these include, among others, improved readability for the color display. This can now be set to remain permanently illuminated. “Above all, the data listing function, and an on device text editor for entry of data such as patient ID or client numbers, should make our customers’ work loads lighter,” says Hollstein. “These enable the user to very simply and safely transfer data, say, to a patient’s or client’s appropriate file,” he continues. The data list also provides the user up-front with additional details such as the patient number or file code, name, and birth date. This data must first be entered into the PC in CSV format and downloaded onto the Digta 420.
Growing Emphasis on Simple Dictation
GBS is setting ever more focus on simple dictation. “User feedback has shown that many only use a few digital dictation functions that go beyond basic recording. The most popular extras are the abilities to insert additions into an existing dictation, and to send dictations by e-mail. This need – the need to simply make dictations – is one that we’re responding to,” says Hollstein. Just last March, the company launched its DigtaSoft One speech processing software. This simplified version is also very easy to install: “Just three clicks, and then DigtaSoft One is ready for customer use in 45 seconds,” according to Hollstein.
